LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island: Strength in Advocacy
Each year LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island members, staff and lobbyists advocate at the State Capitol to further the interests of not-for-profit and mission-driven providers across the long-term care continuum.
The LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island 's Board of Directors, through the work of its Legislative Committee, establishes a legislative agenda each session. This agenda guides the Association's legislative activities throughout the session. The Board of Directors and Legislative Committee also develop positions on other legislative issues as they arise.
Government Relations Leadership Across Connecticut & Rhode Island
As of September 1, 2026, the LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island advocacy efforts are led by Hilary May as our Contracted Government Relations Director. In this capacity, Hilary continues to serve as the contract lobbyist in Connecticut and takes on broader responsibilities to support the government relations efforts across both states. Hilary works in coordination with Frank McMahon of Advocacy Solutions, LLC, who serves as the contract lobbyist at the Rhode Island State House, ensuring strong legislative representation for our provider members in Rhode Island. As always, this work is informed and strengthened by a collaborative process with the LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island President Mag Morelli, the Board of Directors, and our provider members. State-level advocacy is a critical priority for the association, and we look forward to the enhanced advocacy support and grassroots advocacy this expanded structure will provide as we advance the interests of aging services and senior housing providers, and the individuals they serve.

Interested in Joining the LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island Legislative Committee?
The 2027 legislative sessions in both Connecticut and Rhode Island will begin in early January. To help shape our advocacy efforts, LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island convenes provider member-led legislative committees in each state to refine policy priorities and provide guidance on legislative positions throughout the session.
Committee meetings will begin in mid-fall, and we welcome participation from provider members who are interested in advocacy and public policy.
